Ro: Hey guys, it’s Ro! Welcome to another Nerdy Nummies! Today I have a very special guest, it’s Eva! Eva: Hi! Ro: Eva, do you love halloween? Eva: Oh I love Halloween, oh! Ro: I am getting so excited, I think it’s
one of my favorite holidays! Eva: Mine too, except this year it has been
extremely hard to figure out Eva: a costume. Ro: Mmmhmm, you’ve been
busy! Eva: I have been. Ro: You’ve been doing all sorts of stuff!
She has an amazing YouTube channel, Ro: I’m gonna put links down below so you
should go check it out and say hi to her. Ro: And today, we are gonna be making some
Halloween treats, because Ro: it is right around the corner! Ro: To get in the spirit this year, I have
been playing the cute little Ro: Halloween themed RPG Game, Costume Quest
2. So today we are gonna be Ro: making Frost Bites, Bone-Bones, kinda
like bonbons but it’s like a little play Ro: on words because they have little bones
in it. And some Rice Creepies! Both: Let’s get started! Ro: Because we are gonna be making so many
treats today from scratch, I’m just Ro: gonna be showing you how to make them
one by one. Ro: We are gonna be making Frost Bites First. Ro: The things you will need, will be: 2 cups
of white melting chocolate, Ro: a bunch of candy canes, we are gonna crush
them up to make about Ro: 1/2 a cup. 1/2 a teaspoon of peppermint
oil, and a few drops of oil based Ro: Blue food coloring. Remember, you want
them to be oil based because we are gonna Ro: be dying chocolate. You will also need… Eva: A finger mold. Ro: Mmmmmm! Eva: Some
zip lock baggies, and a few hammers. Both: Let’s put it all together! Ro: The first thing that we’re gonna do
is we’re gonna unwrap all of our Ro: little candy canes, place them in the
plastic baggie, and then crush ‘em up Ro: with our hammers! Ro: Lets smash some candy canes! Eva: Let’s
do it! Ro: OK! Oh jeez! Ro: And look at those! Ro: Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da, da-da-da-da-da-da! Ro: All of our candy canes are crushed up.
Boom! Teamwork! Eva: Wooo! Ro: We did it! Ro: Now we are gonna take our candy cane and
the rest of our ingredients Ro: over to the stove. Ro: Turn your stove on to medium heat. Melt the
white chocolate using the Ro: double boiler method. You just have a
bowl on top, with a little bit of water Ro: in the pan below. And as it’s heating
up it will heat your bowl. Ro: Once melted, we’re gonna add our peppermint
oil, then add a few drops of Ro: our blue food coloring oil, and mix together
until you reach a desired color. Ro: Now turn off the stove heat and stir
in the crushed candy cane. Ro: We just took our peppermint bark mixture
off the stove and I just Ro: poured it into a little bowl to make it
a little bit more manageable. Ro: And I love this recipe because, it’s
just like Holiday Bark. I don’t know Ro: if you guys have ever had holiday bark,
have you had holiday bark? Eva: Mmmm! It’s so good! Ro: Yes! It’s
just like chocolate with a bunch of crushed Ro: peppermint, so it’s taking a really
classic recipe, and then making Ro: it creepy! Fwah-wah-wah-wah-wah! Alright. Ro: So what you’re gonna do is take your
spoon and you’re gonna take a little Ro: scoop, and, we’re just gonna pour it
into the trays. Ro: You’re gonna fill ‘em up to the very
tippy top, and you’re gonna do this Ro: to all of your molds. Eva: Now that we’ve filled our molds and
we’re just gonna put them in the refrigerator Eva: for about 20-30 minutes to set. Ro: Yep! And while those are setting, we are
gonna make our next creepy treat! Ro: Now that our Frost Bites are in
the fridge, we are gonna be making Ro: some Creepy Bone-Bones! Which are basically
a play on words, they’re coconut Ro: bonbons, but they have little bones sticking
out of them, so they’re… Eva: So cute! Ro: Super Halloween-y! Ro: The things you will need, will be: 3 cups
of powdered sugar, but we might need Ro: a little bit more in the future, so just
have a little extra handy. Ro: 2 cups of flake coconut, 1 cup of sweetened
condensed milk, 1/2 a stick Ro: of butter. And then for decoration, we’re
gonna be needing light green, Ro: dark green, and purple candy melts. You’ll
also need Eva: A mixer, a mixing bowl, a bone mold,
some ice cream scoops and a baking tray Eva: with some wax paper. Also, some mini
cupcake liners. Ro: That’s right! Now let’s put… Both:
All together! Ro: The first thing that we’re gonna do
is we’re gonna put together our butter, Ro: condensed milk, and powdered sugar into
our mixing bowl, Ro: until it is well combined. Ro: Eva I’m gonna have you work the mixer.
Eva: I’m excited! Ro: So you get ready, I’m gonna put in the
butter, it’s a little messy, but Ro: you’re gonna want it to be room temperature.
It’s really important that Ro: it’s soft so that it blends well, you
don’t want it to come right out Ro: of the refrigerator. And now our condensed
milk. Ooooooooooh! Ro: Oooooooh! Eva: That was creepy enough,
I think we should just stop here! Ro: Powdered sugar. Ooooh! Ooooh! Eva: Oooh! Ro: Oooh! A little ghosty dust cloud in here! Ro: I’ll hold the bowl, you mix. Ro: You guys didn’t know I had a fog machine
on set did you? Ro: Boom! Look at that, well mixed, now we’re
gonna add our coconut flakes and Ro: mix it up one more time. Just a little
bit. Eva: So we just finished mixing it up, and
uh, what are we doing now Ro? Ro: We are gonna take our little ice cream scoops,
take one big scoop, and then place it Ro: over here on top of the wax paper. Eva: Once you’ve got ‘em all scooped out,
we’re gonna put them in the fridge Eva: for about an hour to chill. Ro: Yep,
and while they are chilling Ro: we are gonna make some little decorations! Ro: Our coconut bonbons are chilling in the
fridge and now we are gonna make some Ro: bones to decorate. Here I have melted
some of our green candy melts, it’s Ro: half dark green and half light green,
to make this color. I put it into a Ro: plastic baggie and we’re just gonna
cut a little opening at the top. Ro: And then we are gonna fill our bones about
1/2 way full. Ro: Once these are filled you can give them
a few taps, boop-boop-boop-boop! Ro: And that will make the candy melts lay
flat. And then you’re gonna pop Ro: these in the freezer for about 10 minutes
to chill. And we’re gonna Ro: get out our bonbons. Eva: Mmmm! Ro: And
give ‘em a dip. Ro: We just took the coconut bonbons out of
the fridge and they’re right here Ro: and they’re a little bit colder, so
we were able to re-roll them. Ro: To make them more of a circular shape,
and over here, I’ve just heated Ro: up our purple candy melts. Ro: Eva told me she’s never been to The
Melting Pot! Eva: I’ve never even done fondue ever! Ro: This is so exciting! OK, so at The Melting
Pot you have these cute little Ro: fondue sticks. Eva: Mmmhmm. Ro: And then
you poke your little food, and then Ro: you come over here and you’re gonna
dip it in your chocolate or whatever Ro: thing you want to coat it with. Let the excess candy drip off, and then go back over to the wax paper, whoap! Ro: Bone-bonbon! Now you’re gonna do this
to the rest of your bonbons! Ro: Now we’re gonna add the final decoration
step, this is my favorite! Ro: OK, so we got our little green bones from
earlier, and they have completely Ro: chilled and set, and you’re just gonna
pop ‘em out. Ro: And now, you’re gonna take a serrated
knife and you’re just gonna cut it. Ro: I’m doing it at a little bit at an angle
so that they’ll sit on top Ro: of the bonbon a little funny. Ro: And you’re gonna take a little bit of
melted green candy melts that Ro: we saved from earlier and you’re just gonna
pipe a little at the end and then Ro: stick ‘em on the top. Ro: And you’re gonna have to hold it for
a little bit, maybe 20 seconds, Ro: 30 seconds. It’s kind of like
putting together gingerbread houses. Ro: You want to wait until the chocolate has
set. Ro: Now, we’re gonna put them in these little
liners, how cute are these! Ro: Oh my gosh! Eva: That is so cute! Ro:
And you can give them to your friends. Ro: Look at those! Ro: Shake your bonbon, shake your bonbon! Ro: We just finished our Coconut Bone-Bones!
And now we are gonna make our last Ro: creepy treat, we are gonna be making Rice
Creepies! Ro: Hwah-hwah-hwah! They’re gonna look like
these little bats from the game. Ro: So the things you will need, will be:
6 cups of Rice Krispies Cereal, Ro: 10 ounces of mini-marshmallows, which
is about 1 bag. 3 tablespoons Ro: of butter, brown and green food coloring
dye, and some orange jelly beans. Ro: You will also need… Eva: Some cooking
spray. Ro: Mmmhmmm. Eva: A 9×13 glass pan, black candy melts,
a bat shaped cookie cutter and Eva: some white frosting that we placed in
a decorating bag. Ro: Yum! Now let’s, Both: Put it all together! Ro: Best evil Witch laugh on three, one, two,
three! Both: Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! Ro: The first thing that we’re gonna do
is take our Rice Krispies, marshmallows, Ro: butter and food coloring over to the stove. Ro: Turn the stove to medium heat and in a
large pot you’re gonna add the butter Ro: and stir it around until completely melted.
Then you’re gonna add your Ro: marshmallows and stir again until completely
melted. I’m using Ro: a wooden spoon, just be careful because
this mixture gets really hot! Ro: Once the marshmallows have completely
melted, we’re gonna add our food Ro: coloring. I’m gonna add 3 drops of green
and 1 drop of brown. Ro: Mix them together until you get that creepy
green color and then remove Ro: your large pot from the stove. I’m just
placing it on the counter. Ro: Here we’re gonna add our Rice Krispies
to the pot and fold them together Ro: until they are well combined, and head
back over to our baking station. Ro: We just took the Rice Krispies off the
stove, they’re nice and hot, Eva: Now we’re gonna spray the pan with
our baking spray so they don’t stick. Ro: Give it a good spray, a little shake,
a little spray, just like hair spray. Ro: Easy to use. Eva: Oooh! Ro: The pot is hot! So be careful, don’t
burn yourself! Ro: I’m gonna hold the pot, you scoop it
in there, it’s super sticky! Eva: Ooooh! Ro: here’s my sneaky little trick, you’re
gonna take a piece of wax paper. Eva: Mmmhmmm. Ro: Place it on top. Eva: OK.
Ro: And then we’re gonna pack Ro: it down. Eva: OK, oooh! That feels nice!
Ro: So you can spread ‘em all around Ro: evenly and make it flat. Ro: Eva, remove the wax paper slowly! Eva:
Oooooh! Ro: There you are, there you are! Eva: Alright, so our Rice Krispies are ready and
now we’re just gonna set these aside to cool Eva: for about 30 minutes to an hour. Ro:
Mmmhmm, and while they are cooling Ro: we’re gonna make some fun decorations! Ro: While our Rice Krispies are setting, we
are gonna make some decorations Ro: using this little template. I made this
in photoshop, and I’ll put a link Ro: down below if you want to download this
template, or feel free to make Ro: your own. But, you’re just gonna print
it off, and then right here, Ro: Eva and I have got these two little boards,
you can use any surface you’d like, Ro: And you’re gonna take your template,
put it underneath a piece of wax paper, Ro: and then we’ve taped them down at the
top and the bottom so that they won’t Ro: go anywhere. Here we’ve got two little
baggies with the black candy melts, Ro: we’ve melted them, and for a little
bit more control we’ve added a number Ro: 2 tip here at the end. You don’t need
this, it’s totally optional. Ro: I just like to have a little bit more
control because I’m messy. Ro: And now we’re just gonna trace out
our little shapes, these are gonna Ro: be the mouths of the bat. Ro: Once we’re done with these we’re gonna
set them off to the side and we’re Ro: gonna take our Rice Krispies and cut out
little bat shapes, Ro: with a cute little cookie cutter! Eva: OK, so we have our Rice Krispies and
we’re just gonna plop them onto Eva: the cutting board. Ro: Alright, give
it a flip. Both: Wooooooo! Ro: We’re in business, we’re in business! Ro: Take your little bat cookie cutter, and we’re gonna
cut out a bunch of bat shapes, you Ro: can make as many as you’d like. Ro: The first thing that you’re gonna do
is take your little mouths that we made Ro: earlier. And then we’ve got a little bit of melted black candy melts, we’re gonna add a little to Ro: the back, and then stick him right on
the front. Ro: And now you’re gonna take some Jelly
Beans, and I like to cut ‘em in half Ro: to make the two little eyeballs, take
a dab of the candy melts, put it on Ro: the back, stick on your two eyeballs.
You’re gonna take your little candy melts Ro: And we’re just gonna pipe on some little
eyebrows, and make two little Ro: eyeballs on top of the jelly bean. Ro: Now, we’re gonna cut up a bunch of jelly
beans, I like to use the ends of the Ro: jelly bean, and you’re just gonna cut
the very tip of your jelly bean. Ro: Take these little guys and I’m just
gonna stick a couple onto each side, Ro: the left and the right. Eva: So now we’re gonna take our white frosting
and put some teeth on them. Ro: Errrr! Ro: We’re gonna do two pointy teeth on the
top, and two pointy teeth on the bottom! Ro: This is our moment. Eva: This is my Moment! Both: Ta-da! Ro: Here are all the Creepy Treats that we
made today! We have Frost Bites, Ro: Coconut Bone-Bones, and some Rice Creepies!
Meh-meh-meh-meh-meh! Ro: A big thank you to Eva for helping me
bake today. Ro: Girl, you are amazing, and you’re pretty talented
with this decorating stuff. Eva: Well thank you, thank you! Ro: She’s amazing, I’ll be putting all
