Hi I am going to make a dress with the friday pattern company. This is a PDF file pattern. you can easily print them at home & it’s ready to go. I made a blouse with this pattern. please check the video as well. for the blouse , I changed the sleeve design. but This time I used an all original pattern in size XS. My heights is 5FT(153cm). after finished, this dress comes up to the middle of my calves. I actually wanted to make it longer. So I added one more frill after this video was done. please check my instagram. I used cotton fabric 3yds in 45″ width. I think this pattern will be a lot of fun to use with so many different kinds of fabrics. I might make it again with a soft&silky texture. This tutorial vid is exactly the same as the instructions the pattern company sent. For Size XS// 3- 4 mfabric(45″ width) , cotton lace (option) print & cut the pattern. This pattern length is for a blouse. there is a line for a dress. i used a shorten line since i am small. and I marked the line on the fabric directly instead of cutting the pattern. the shorten chest length will be like the picture. right under your bra line. Cut 5 pcs (2 pannels for first tier, 3 panels for the lower tier) I used shorten version for first tier only. Pls refer picture. the yellow cut line is for 1st tier, Green for lower tier. if the tier length were the same, it would look like the sample from friday comapany. As you can see in the pic, my first tier length is shorter than the lower tier. cut the body & sleeve pattern. you can see the instruction in the package as well. cut all of them. Ready to sew! Sew the front body from bottom to notch. Press your seam open then fold the raw edges of your seam.Topstitch ¼” from your center seam. Front Piece A to your Sleeve Piece C matching notches. Stitch. Trim away excess, finish seam. Press seam open. Repeat on other side. pin your underarm and side seam together. Start at the wrist of your sleeve, stitch all the way down the arm, pivot at the underarm, and proceed to stitch down the side seam. Press the top edge of your bodice under
(towards the wrong side of the fabric) ½”. Press the folded edge down 2” and topstitch 1/8” from that pressed edge all the way around your neckline. but I want to have a cotton lace here. I will attached the lace and then the folded edge down 2” and topstitch 1/8” from that pressed edge all the way around your neckline. Sew another row of stitches 1” above the row of topstitching that you just did.Now you have a channel for your tie to go through! you can use the same fabric for the ribbon. but i used a different poly ribbon for the point. Attach a safety pin to the end of your tie and run it through the lower channel you created on your neckline. Once you have pulled your tie through you can remove the safety pin. Trim the end of the sleeve. I add the same cotton lace here as a neck line. Time to start on the skirt! take two of your skirt panels and stitch them together down the side seams Using a long straight stitch (recommended length 3.5-4 mm), stitch ¼” from the edge of your fabric around the top of your skirt. Sew a second line of long straight stitches 1/4” from your first row of stitches. Pull on the bobbin strings of your long stitches to start gathering the skirt. Keep pulling until the waist opening is the same length as the opening of the hem of your bodice. Then sew around the opening of your skirt. Now we make the lower tier! same way as 1st tier! Finished! Trim away excess, finish the seam and press it! I hope this tutorial vid helps give you some ideas. Please leave me a comment if you have any questions. Thank you for watching it.
